Description

  • Build and operate backend services, distributed systems, and production infrastructure components.
  • Design and implement customer-facing interfaces, APIs, and workflows for the product.
  • Contribute to multiple layers of the software stack, including work directly in ClickHouse.
  • Debug incidents, improve observability, and make services more reliable in production.
  • Balance performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and operational simplicity in day-to-day work.
  • Take ownership of ambiguous work and drive progress without fully defined requirements.
  • Document decisions, write operational notes, and communicate context clearly across teams.
  • Collaborate closely with platform, support, customer success, and engineering teams.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to keep services healthy and understand customer issues.
  • Use AI tools in the development, debugging, and code review workflow.

Requirements

  • Highly experienced backend engineer.
  • Strong experience building backend services, distributed systems, infrastructure components, or high-volume production systems.
  • Highly proficient in Python; this is required for the role.
  • Comfortable working close to production, including incident debugging and system analysis.
  • Interest in data, SQL, and real-time analytical systems.
  • Clear written communication skills for asynchronous work.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish; English is the main company language and Spanish is used day to day in the Product team.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar as part of the daily workflow.
  • Preferred: pragmatic approach that balances speed, stability, safety, and maintainability.
