Description

  • Secure and manage long-term, revenue-driving partnerships for The Athletic.
  • Grow the league partnerships portfolio and own the success of those deals.
  • Work with the Head of Global Business Development to set and execute growth strategy.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between The Athletic, The New York Times sales teams, and strategic partners where sales overlap exists.
  • Identify creative new opportunities to expand The Athletic’s commercial business.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, product, editorial, design, and marketing to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Partner with the Partner Management team to keep partnerships effective and optimized for success.
  • Create and manage project plans for partnership executions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required; MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant business development and partnerships operations experience.
  • Experience in advertising sales and/or media business development.
  • Experience working with rights holders and sports leagues.
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively move ideas and projects forward.
  • High level of professionalism, motivation, and strong follow-up.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically and develop out-of-the-box ideas.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with teams across North America and internationally.
  • Remote-based role in the United States; ability to represent The Athletic brand well.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $130,000 to $145,000 USD.
