Description

  • Own the visual and structural design of the Wirecutter Store, including the homepage, product detail pages, and checkout flows.
  • Translate business requirements into high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and cohesive desktop and mobile interfaces.
  • Analyze the shopping funnel to identify friction and improve navigation, product discovery, and checkout.
  • Audit the site experience, apply e-commerce design trends, and propose improvements to site architecture.
  • Partner with the business team to develop and execute an A/B testing roadmap for UI experiments.
  • Use data from experiments and site analytics to iterate on design decisions.
  • Build, configure, and manage Shopify pages within platform capabilities and constraints.
  • Advocate for visual standards with technical partners throughout implementation.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant product or digital design experience.
  • Portfolio demonstrating e-commerce design process and work in information architecture, interaction design, and visual hierarchy.
  • Experience designing for Shopify, including the theme editor, product asset management, and custom layouts.
  • Experience designing templates for e-commerce email platforms such as Klaviyo or Shopify Email.
  • Understanding of email layout, typography, and calls to action that influence engagement metrics.
  • Experience using analytics to evaluate site performance and prioritize design changes.
  • Experience using design to improve conversion and usability (preferred).
  • Ability to explain design rationale and collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders (preferred).
