Description

  • Lead agent optimization efforts for Temporal’s AI Foundations team.
  • Design and build agentic coding systems that deliver high-quality outputs with strong reliability.
  • Develop tools and mechanisms to improve token spend, response time, and result quality for agents.
  • Work across the full feature lifecycle and own delivery in collaboration with other teams.
  • Build expertise in agentic coding, AI application development patterns, and emerging architectures.
  • Serve as a domain expert on AI design patterns and provide best-practice guidance to field staff.
  • Collaborate with developer community members to debug issues and gather feedback on Temporal features and APIs.
  • Write public technical documentation for Temporal concepts and APIs.
  • Support customers directly when expert engineering help is needed.
  • Travel occasionally for team gatherings and in-person collaboration.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional work experience.
  • Proven experience optimizing AI systems using both machine learning and systems techniques.
  • Experience and passion for generative AI, particularly for agents and coding.
  • Deep appreciation for using AI to improve quality, not just quantity.
  • Fluency in multiple programming languages, with willingness and ability to learn new ones.
  • Deep experience with concurrent programming, including safe use of mutexes, atomics, and other concurrency primitives.
  • Experience designing APIs and writing documentation for publicly available libraries or modules.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, or a closely related degree, or equivalent experience writing production-grade software.
  • Familiarity with Temporal’s programming model, such as having built an application on Temporal, preferred.
  • Open source software contributions, including third-party library contributions, preferred.
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design of large-scale distributed systems, preferred.
  • Deep background in machine learning, model training, data science, or machine learning systems, preferred.
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, preferred.
