Description

  • Own the codebase and set the engineering bar for the product.
  • Audit and improve the deploy workflow, CI/CD pipeline, and staging environment.
  • Document the stack and key architectural decisions.
  • Establish end-to-end testing practices.
  • Build new data ingestion connectors for accounting, identity, and HR/payroll platforms.
  • Design and build vendor utilisation integrations.
  • Build a notifications system for onboarding, alerts, and insight delivery.
  • Develop the master vendor catalogue at scale.
  • Extend LLM-based vendor identification and classification features.
  • Build evaluation infrastructure to improve agent reliability.
  • Productionise the agent task model with per-task pricing.
  • Build Tier 2 product features including utilisation analytics, consolidation recommendations, and renewal automation.
  • Integrate Stripe billing and implement tier paywalling.
  • Help shape the hiring process for the second engineer.

Requirements

  • 1–5 years of experience shipping production web applications.
  • Production experience with Next.js 14 using the App Router.
  • Strong PostgreSQL experience, including migrations, indexing, transactions, and raw SQL.
  • Production AWS experience with ECS or equivalent, RDS, IAM, and secrets management.
  • Experience designing REST APIs, OAuth flows, webhooks, and idempotent operations.
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture and tenancy-related issues.
  • Strong written English for asynchronous work with founders in a different timezone.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar.
  • Experience with LLM-integrated features in production, including prompt design, evals, and cost management is strongly preferred.
  • Stripe billing integration experience, including subscriptions, metered billing, or paywalls is strongly preferred.
  • Early-stage startup experience, ideally as the 2nd or 3rd engineer, is strongly preferred.
  • Production on-call ownership experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with React 18, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Radix UI.
  • Familiarity with Anthropic API (Claude) and SendGrid.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, AWS ECS Fargate, CloudWatch, SSM, and OIDC-based IAM.
