Description

  • Manage the assigned budget, resource allocation, and financial goal achievement.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff while setting goals, giving feedback, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Evaluate individual and team performance and implement improvements to productivity and efficiency.
  • Oversee purchasing, expenses, procurement, and distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Support personnel recruitment, deployment, scheduling, rotations, and well-being across the disaster cycle.
  • Lead the leadership lifecycle program, including recruiting, onboarding, and developing Greyshirt volunteer leaders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
  • Lead capacity-building efforts, local relationship growth, disaster operations, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Organize and participate in training and simulations for disaster response teams.
  • Coordinate disaster response operations, including resource and personnel deployment, EOC support, and agency coordination.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in military, disaster response, emergency management, or first responder fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven personnel management experience, including recruiting, managing, training, and developing employees and volunteers.
  • Proficiency with technology tools and remote coordination across staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
  • Successful past performance leading volunteers is highly desired.
  • Solid knowledge of the incident command system.
  • Experience in planning, mobilization, and demobilization operations.
  • Ability to work a flexible, non-traditional schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally as needed.
  • At least 25% non-local travel required within the assigned territory.
  • Must be based remotely in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, or Ohio; Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, or Louisville preferred.
