Description

  • Develop Tailscale’s product by contributing to open source client code and related backend services.
  • Own work across the product lifecycle, from coding and product ideation to strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers and product managers to shape and refine features.
  • Design, build, test, and document core software components as part of the engineering team.
  • Develop features for the control plane, relay infrastructure, and identity integrations.
  • Own the health of running services by improving observability, participating in incident response, and handling customer support escalations.
  • Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of system resources.
  • Apply a security-first mindset to both design and implementation.

Requirements

  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Experience with the Go programming language.
  • Experience with one or more SQL databases.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts such as IP addressing and routing.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and work independently.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working asynchronously in a fully remote environment.
  • Experience with control plane or other infrastructure-related services (implied by the role context).
