Description

  • Design, develop, and deploy production AI/ML systems that deliver business impact.
  • Build and maintain LLM-based applications using context engineering techniques and related toolsets.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to move approved proof-of-concepts from research into production.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing products and services through APIs and microservices.
  • Design and implement evaluation frameworks to assess model accuracy, reliability, and task-specific performance.
  • Monitor production performance and optimize systems based on evaluation metrics and real-world usage patterns.
  • Prototype new AI ideas quickly as foundation models, quantization methods, and other tools evolve.
  • Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders in a cross-functional squad.
  • Contribute independently to technical discussions, problem-solving, and product improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Python and clean, modular, efficient code development.
  • Experience designing and deploying AI systems on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with BigQuery, Firebase, and Vertex AI.
  • Working knowledge of Google Gemini, OpenAI, and Anthropic APIs.
  • Experience with evaluation methods for LLM accuracy, hallucinations, and task-specific performance.
  • Exposure to or strong interest in vector databases, semantic search, agent frameworks, and MCP-style tool connectivity.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot.
  • Foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts, model architectures, and LLM capabilities and constraints.
  • Ability to balance innovation with practical business requirements and navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a quantitative field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Must currently reside within commuting distance of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without visa support or transfer.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and learning in fast-changing AI environments is preferred.

  • Base salary targeted at $153,000-$180,000 CAD.
