Description

  • Architect, design, and build backend systems that turn internal AI technology into a scalable, market-ready product.
  • Externalize the company’s technology with a focus on reliability, performance, and real-world usability.
  • Work with the AI team to turn research into enterprise-ready solutions.
  • Design and optimize APIs, database schemas, and data processing workflows that integrate with AI/ML pipelines.
  • Develop backend architectures that support the production deployment of machine learning models at scale.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to define technical requirements and deliver features.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and scale systems as user base and data complexity grow.
  • Drive technical decisions on infrastructure, tools, and best practices in a collaborative environment.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote code quality, testing, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience in backend engineering building scalable systems and services.
  • Proficiency in Python as the primary language, with hands-on experience in Python-based frameworks and libraries.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to other technology stacks when needed for external system integrations.
  • Solid experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including query and transaction optimization.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining high-performance APIs.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, microservices architecture, and cloud-native applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment while managing multiple technical priorities and collaborating across teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to break down complex tasks into manageable components.
  • Experience in healthcare or health-tech is preferred.
  • Familiarity with integrating AI/ML models into production systems is preferred.
  • Experience with distributed systems and high-availability services is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Python frameworks and libraries used in production, such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as GCP Pub/Sub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ is preferred.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks is preferred.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS, and containerized architectures such as Docker and Kubernetes, is preferred.
  • Must be based in Portugal and possess a valid EU visa.
  • No relocation assistance is provided.
