Description

  • Design and build user-facing features across React frontends, Node.js services, BFF layers, databases, and third-party APIs.
  • Own technical direction by breaking ambiguous problems into shippable increments and making architecture decisions.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Designers to shape requirements and scope.
  • Support reliable databases and APIs for real-time automated decision-making.
  • Deploy software using AWS, Kubernetes, Lambda, and container-based tooling.
  • Investigate production issues and implement fixes to minimize user impact.
  • Implement automated tests across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
  • Apply security practices to protect user data and improve security standards.
  • Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and support team members across the stack.
  • Own delivered work and contribute to technical and product decisions.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of commercial experience building web applications.
  • Strong experience with React, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Experience designing and shipping production services, including API design, microservices, and system design.
  • Practical knowledge of a relational database such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • Experience implementing unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Ability to lead software design and architecture discussions and explain trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Independent problem-solving skills, comfort with ambiguity, accountability, and ownership.
  • Knowledge of effective security practices and interest in mentoring engineers.
  • Good written and spoken English; availability for occasional evening meetings, averaging two days per week.
  • Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Nest.js, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes or Fargate, AWS, monitoring tools, and automated testing; BigQuery, data analysis, AI production use cases, or team leadership are advantageous.
