Description

  • Design software for transit agency staff across the full product cycle, from discovery and research through prototypes and high-fidelity designs.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers to shape product strategy by visualizing problems and solutions.
  • Plan and lead user research, including interviews, usability tests, and synthesis, and communicate findings in ways that influence decisions.
  • Design for real-world operational workflows and service outcomes that connect directly to the software.
  • Work alongside engineering during the build phase to ensure what gets built matches user needs.
  • Contribute to Swiftly's design system and strengthen the team's design foundation over time.
  • Create designs for complex product areas such as real-time passenger information or ridership and historical analysis.
  • Help scope problems, define success metrics with product and engineering, and turn research into strategy that informs adjacent flows.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product design experience with a track record of taking complex products from conception to completion.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates craft, problem-solving, and ownership from ambiguity to a clear outcome.
  • Experience in B2B or enterprise products is preferred.
  • Experience with complex domains such as operational software, data-dense interfaces, or products where underlying logic is part of the design work.
  • Comfort with automation and trigger-based systems is a strong signal.
  • Strong data visualization and analytical UX experience, including dashboards, reporting, and exploratory analysis.
  • Interest in designing for open-ended, user-driven outputs, including AI-assisted or prompt-to-output paradigms.
  • Experience using AI tools to prototype with production-level code and iterate quickly at real fidelity.
  • Strong user research skills, including selecting appropriate methods, interviewing effectively, and turning findings into decisions.
  • Ability to articulate and defend design decisions to engineers, product managers, and stakeholders, and adapt when evidence changes.
