Description

  • Build new features and services for the training and certification platform using the modern tech stack (React/Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, AWS).
  • Develop APIs, serverless functions, and event-driven components to support product functionality and integrations.
  • Collaborate on architecture, shared services, internal tooling, and interface design to drive platform modernization.
  • Contribute to the strangler-fig migration from legacy monoliths, maintaining stability while incrementally replacing old systems.
  • Leverage AI development tools to improve development speed, quality, and consistency, and help design and deliver AI-powered product features (guided workflows, recommendations, validations, productivity tools).
  • Debug and maintain existing ColdFusion/Lucee applications and support stability and incident response for legacy systems.
  • Improve engineering practices by writing clean, well-documented code, enhancing CI/CD pipelines, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Participate in a moderate on-call rotation, collaborate with Product, QA, and offshore teams, and contribute to engineering decisions and best practices.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong full-stack skills, especially with React and TypeScript plus Node.js.
  • Experience building API-driven and serverless systems.
  • Solid SQL and relational database knowledge (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL).
  • Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
  • Ability to debug legacy systems (ColdFusion/Lucee experience is a plus); comfortable using AI tools to assist development and debugging.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills and a builder’s mindset—own features from idea through launch and support.
  • Comfortable participating in on-call rotations and providing production support.
  • Nice to have: GraphQL experience, experience modernizing legacy systems, experience working with offshore engineering teams, and a DevOps mindset (automation, CI/CD, observability).

Benefits

  • Remote work (role listed as remote).
  • Generous time off policies plus 13 public holidays.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage (one option fully funded by StraighterLine).
  • 401(k) Safe Harbor with StraighterLine contributing 3% of total salary regardless of employee contribution.
  • Six weeks paid parental leave.
  • Free StraighterLine courses for employees and family members.
