Description

  • Own Step's marketing technology stack end to end, including ad channel and attribution integrations and vendor management.
  • Build and maintain the data models and analytical tooling used by the marketing team.
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, and Engineering to move technical work out of core product engineering.
  • Ship monthly rewards and offers that support engagement and growth.
  • Oversee SEO across step.com, including on-page optimization, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, and technical audits.
  • Lead the Money 101 blog strategy, content calendar, publishing, and content operations.
  • Write content and manage freelance and AI-assisted workflows to scale content production.
  • Optimize content for LLM and AI search visibility and track how AI platforms retrieve and cite Step's content.
  • Build authority through backlink acquisition and digital PR.
  • Own organic performance reporting across rankings, traffic, conversions, and AI citation share.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in SEO and content, with at least one role owning both strategy and hands-on execution at a consumer app, fintech, or growth-stage startup.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to produce accurate personal finance content daily.
  • Demonstrated success growing organic traffic through keyword strategy, on-page SEO, technical SEO, and ranking content.
  • Working knowledge of AEO and GEO, including hands-on experimentation with LLM and AI search optimization.
  • Experience with YouTube SEO or video content optimization.
  • Experience with backlink and digital PR campaigns that earn authoritative links.
  • Fluency with Ahrefs or SEMrush, Google Search Console, GA4, and schema/structured data.
  • Self-directed and organized enough to run a daily publishing operation, a technical roadmap, and experiments at the same time.
  • Personal finance or fintech experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Contentful and light HTML/CSS is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
