Description

  • Contribute to architecture, design, and technical decision-making for Node.js backend services, Contentful CMS integrations, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing APIs.
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, monitoring, observability, and system reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, and cloud infrastructure best practices within AWS.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and scalable design patterns.
  • Provide technical mentorship, supervision, and performance guidance to engineers.
  • Partner with product, design, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support reliable delivery of high-visibility, consumer-facing web applications built on AWS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture.
  • Strong Node.js backend experience, preferably with NestJS.
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs and distributed or microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience with JWT / OIDC authentication, such as Auth0 or equivalent, and passport-jwt / JWKS patterns.
  • Experience with relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, deployments, backups, and scaling.
  • Hands-on operational MongoDB experience with replication, sharding, and performance tuning preferred.
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration on AWS ECS, including task definitions, logging, and ECR.
  • Experience with AWS services such as Amplify, API Gateway, ALB/NLB, S3, EFS, CloudWatch, X-Ray, IAM, and VPC/VPC endpoints.
  • Experience building cloud-native automation using IaC frameworks such as Terraform and Terragrunt.
  • CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions and GitHub OIDC for secure AWS deployments.
  • Observability and operations experience with logs, metrics, alarms, distributed tracing, and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience with security best practices, including IAM least-privilege, private S3 patterns, and secrets management.
  • Testing and quality experience, including unit and integration testing with Jest, e2e testing, linting, and formatting.
  • Experience integrating headless CMS platforms with modern front-end frameworks.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills.
  • Experience integrating with Contentful CMS, Drupal, or WordPress platforms preferred.
  • Zod or schema-first validation experience and OpenAPI generation tooling experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with CloudPosse Terraform modules and Terragrunt layout patterns preferred.
  • Performance tuning experience for Node.js apps and MongoDB, plus caching strategies preferred.
  • Experience with EFS for stateful containers and mounting/permission management preferred.
  • Knowledge of Checkov, Terraform security scanning, and Terraform CI checks preferred.
