Description

Research and summarize state and local transportation policy and operations to support policy research and implementation efforts.
Write policy studies, policy briefs, op-eds, and commentaries for Reason.org and other outlets.
Compile, analyze, and model spreadsheets and datasets, and communicate findings to team members and stakeholders.
Track transportation-related legislative reform efforts across states and produce regular reports for the team.
Record transportation policy team outputs, including legislative meetings, written deliverables, and commentaries.
Participate in coalitions that advance Reason Foundation’s transportation policy agenda at the state level.
Support transportation policy research with data-driven analyses and other assigned duties.
Attend a few conferences per year as needed.

Requirements

Strong analytical skills.
Working knowledge of, or ability to rapidly learn, data analysis and data visualization tools such as R, Shiny Apps, and Tableau is preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-experts.
Working knowledge of state legislative processes and practices.
Curiosity and self-motivation to learn new things and tackle difficult technical problems.
General alignment with Reason Foundation’s mission and libertarian principles.
Ability to work in-office in Los Angeles or Washington, DC, or virtually anywhere in the U.S.
A cover letter addressing mission alignment, interest in the position, and qualifications.
A writing sample must be included with the application.

Benefits

Salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 per year.
Remote work option anywhere in the U.S.
In-office work option in Los Angeles or Washington, DC.
