Description

  • Research and summarize state and local transportation policy and operations to support policy research and implementation efforts.
  • Write policy studies, policy briefs, op-eds, and commentaries for Reason.org and other outlets.
  • Compile, analyze, and model spreadsheets and datasets, and communicate findings to team members and stakeholders.
  • Track transportation-related legislative reform efforts across states and produce regular reports for the team.
  • Record transportation policy team outputs, including legislative meetings, written deliverables, and commentaries.
  • Participate in coalitions that advance Reason Foundation’s transportation policy agenda at the state level.
  • Support transportation policy research with data-driven analyses and other assigned duties.
  • Attend a few conferences per year as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of, or ability to rapidly learn, data analysis and data visualization tools such as R, Shiny Apps, and Tableau is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-experts.
  • Working knowledge of state legislative processes and practices.
  • Curiosity and self-motivation to learn new things and tackle difficult technical problems.
  • General alignment with Reason Foundation’s mission and libertarian principles.
  • Ability to work in-office in Los Angeles or Washington, DC, or virtually anywhere in the U.S.
  • A cover letter addressing mission alignment, interest in the position, and qualifications.
  • A writing sample must be included with the application.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 per year.
