Description

  • Own and improve the machine learning models and systems powering Spotify’s Home feed and Shortcuts experience.
  • Design, build, and deploy personalized recommendations for millions of global listeners.
  • Develop content recommendation systems for agentic and AI-powered user experiences.
  • Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and optimize large language models using SFT, distillation, and parameter-efficient methods.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and designers to define experimentation strategies.
  • Lead A/B testing, monitoring, model evaluation, and continuous optimization of recommendation quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Improve ML platforms, data pipelines, and production systems supporting personalization at scale.
  • Set technical direction in ambiguous problem areas and influence long-term personalization architecture.
  • Mentor machine learning engineers and raise technical standards across the team.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building and deploying production machine learning systems.
  • Deep expertise in recommendation systems, ranking, personalization, or large-scale content discovery.
  • Strong Python proficiency and hands-on experience with PyTorch.
  • Experience training, fine-tuning, evaluating, and optimizing LLMs using SFT, distillation, and LoRA.
  • Experience with large-scale inference systems, including latency, reliability, and cost optimization.
  • Ability to design, execute, and interpret online experiments and A/B tests.
  • Experience with distributed ML workloads using Ray, FSDP, HSDP, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience building data pipelines and orchestration workflows with tools such as Flyte, Airflow, BigQuery, and cloud storage.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions beyond the immediate team.
  • Ability to work within the North Americas region and collaborate during Eastern Standard Time.
