Description

  • Review daily transaction monitoring alerts and identify potentially suspicious activity.
  • Conduct sanctions, PEP, adverse media, and watchlist screening for onboarding and ongoing reviews.
  • Escalate positive or unusual alerts to the AML Specialist or MLRO.
  • Assist with investigations into unusual or high-risk transactional behaviour.
  • Assess customer activity against expected profiles and risk indicators.
  • Document investigation findings clearly within defined SLAs.
  • Conduct customer due diligence checks for onboarding and ongoing monitoring.
  • Support enhanced due diligence reviews for high-risk customers, including source-of-funds assessments.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting to the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).
  • Maintain accurate case files, audit-ready records, and retention logs aligned with statutory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, Criminology, Compliance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–3 years of experience in AML, financial crime, compliance, or related operational functions.
  • Cape Town-based candidate preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of FICA, including Regulations/Guidance Notes 4B, 7, 8, and 6A.
  • Knowledge of regulatory licence requirements and FATF recommendations.
  • Competence with AML monitoring tools, Excel or BI dashboards, and case-management systems.
  • Strong analytical thinking and report-writing skills.
  • Clear communication skills and discretion when handling sensitive data.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-moving environment.
