Description

  • Build and manage Japanese Discord channels, including structure, roles, bots, and moderation.
  • Develop community growth strategies targeting Japanese MMO players, guilds, and content creators.
  • Identify and build relationships with Japanese YouTubers, streamers, VTubers, and gaming communities.
  • Engage with players across Twitter/X, Niconico, YouTube, 5ch, and other Japanese gaming forums.
  • Recruit and support Japanese MMO guilds, adapting outreach to local guild culture.
  • Localize announcements, patch notes, events, and other community communications for Japanese audiences.
  • Run Japan-focused community events such as housing contests, guild showcases, and seasonal activities.
  • Prepare weekly reports on community sentiment, growth metrics, creator relationships, and cultural insights.
  • Advise the wider team on Japanese gaming culture and coordinate cross-community events with the Community Director.

Requirements

  • Native-level Japanese reading, writing, and speaking ability.
  • Fluent English with professional working proficiency.
  • Deep personal experience playing MMOs and understanding long-term player communities.
  • Knowledge of Japanese gaming content creators, VTubers, streamers, and agency networks.
  • Experience with Japanese online communities, including Discord, Twitter/X, Niconico, and 5ch.
  • Understanding of Japanese MMO guild culture and its differences from Western communities.
  • Strong self-starter mentality and ability to pursue opportunities independently.
  • Previous game-studio community management experience, especially supporting a Western game launch in Japan (preferred).
  • Existing relationships with Japanese gaming creators (preferred).
  • Experience with Japanese gaming content localization, short-form video creation, or extensive play in games such as FFXIV, PSO2, or Dragon Quest X (preferred).
