Description

  • Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications.
  • Define and enforce best practices for code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsiveness, compatibility, and maintainability.
  • Drive accessibility efforts by integrating and validating Windows accessibility APIs and supporting screen readers, keyboard navigation, and focus management.
  • Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders on feature planning and Windows UI/UX architecture.
  • Own features through the full lifecycle from conception and design to implementation, testing, release, and maintenance.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems.
  • Propose robust architectural and design solutions for long-term platform quality.
  • Mentor other engineers and help guide technical direction and architecture decisions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI or similar frameworks, C#, and XAML.
  • Additional experience with native Windows code such as C++, Win32, WinRT, or COM is ideal.
  • Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed .NET code and native code.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications with a focus on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows, such as Microsoft UI Automation or similar frameworks.
  • Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multi-threading or asynchronous programming.
  • Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions and drive consensus.
  • User-centric mindset focused on polished, intuitive, and accessible experiences.
  • Preferred: experience writing automated tests for UI, including unit, integration, and UI automation tests.
  • Preferred: experience with desktop app performance optimization, including startup time, rendering, high-DPI support, responsiveness, and memory usage.
  • Preferred: experience with localization, globalization, right-to-left UI support, and internationalization.
  • Preferred: familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring.
  • Preferred: experience shaping CI/CD workflows, release pipelines, and deployment strategies for desktop applications.
  • Preferred: ability to own modules or feature areas long term, including maintenance, refactoring, and technical debt management.
