Description

  • Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and sometimes C++.
  • Define and enforce best practices for code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility, and maintainability.
  • Drive accessibility implementation and validation across the Windows app, including UI Automation, focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
  • Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders on feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and the Windows roadmap.
  • Own features through the full lifecycle from conception and design through implementation, testing, release, and maintenance.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems.
  • Lead technical design discussions, conduct code reviews, mentor other engineers, and make architecture-level decisions.
  • Support long-term quality and consistency across releases for the Windows platform.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML.
  • Additional experience with native Windows code such as C++, Win32, WinRT, or COM is ideal.
  • Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interoperability between managed .NET code and native code.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications with strong reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows, such as Microsoft UI Automation, and a commitment to inclusive software.
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals, including OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multi-threading or async programming.
  • Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate tradeoffs, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive consensus.
  • A user-centric mindset focused on building polished, intuitive, and accessible experiences.
  • Preferred: experience writing automated UI tests, including unit, integration, and UI automation tests.
  • Preferred: experience with desktop app performance optimization, including memory usage, startup time, rendering, high-DPI support, and responsiveness under load.
  • Preferred: experience with localization, globalization, right-to-left UI support, and internationalization.
  • Preferred: familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring for desktop applications.
  • Preferred: experience with CI/CD workflows, release pipelines, and deployment strategies for desktop applications.
  • Preferred: demonstrated ownership of feature areas or modules, including maintenance, refactoring, and technical debt management.
