Description

  • Develop highly reliable and performant GNC algorithms, simulations, tools, services, and dashboards in C++ or Python.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and code reviews.
  • Analyze bulk performance data from the Starlink constellation and network.
  • Write high-quality technical documentation for programs, algorithms, and analyses.
  • Support on-call operations by commanding satellites or reviewing network data to maintain peak network performance.
  • Work on constellation design and optimization for Starlink sub-teams.
  • Develop automation and supporting software for fleet management and satellite orbit transfers.
  • Contribute to satellite collision avoidance, attitude determination and control, orbit control, and payload state estimation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, aerospace, physics, or an engineering discipline.
  • Software development experience in either C++ or Python.
  • Master's degree or PhD in an engineering discipline or physics (preferred).
  • Experience developing, debugging, and deploying software used in real-world applications/projects (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, including low-thrust trajectory optimization and stationkeeping (preferred).
  • Experience verifying GNC algorithm performance through simulation and validating simulation models (preferred).
  • Experience with state estimation, including attitude determination, orbit determination, GNSS, and radio navigation (preferred).
  • Familiarity with numerical probability of collision methods such as Alfano, Foster, and Hall (preferred).
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems with little to no supervision.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Must meet U.S. ITAR export authorization requirements as a U.S. citizen/national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain required authorization.

  • Base salary range of $135,000-$160,000 for GNC Engineer/Level I and $155,000-$185,000 for GNC Engineer/Level II.
