Description

  • Manage a team of Data Scientists supporting SoFi’s Checking and Savings, Invest, Credit Card, Protect, and Lantern businesses.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and execute Data Science initiatives.
  • Set high standards for quality, delivery, and accountability across the team.
  • Recruit, grow, and retain top talent within the Data Science organization.
  • Ensure the team operates in an agile and efficient manner.
  • Identify high-impact business opportunities that help members achieve their financial goals.
  • Mentor and guide data scientists on best practices, technical decisions, coding standards, and documentation.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and present insights regularly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work cross-functionally with business leaders and teams to understand needs and deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Stay current on the latest AI/ML technologies and apply them where relevant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • 7+ years of Data Science or Software Engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Experience using data-driven analysis to influence key decisions, preferably in a tech or finance company.
  • Experience using Airflow and DBT to build data pipelines in Snowflake.
  • Strong programming skills in SQL and Python.
  • Experience building data visualizations with Tableau, Looker, or other BI tools.
  • Knowledge of ML algorithms and their applicability to different business problems.
  • Experience deploying ML models at scale in production with monitoring metrics.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex analyses simply to business leaders.
  • Strong relationship-building, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
