Description

  • Architect, design, develop, and maintain product features across a varied technology stack including Golang, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, and SQL.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to translate requirements into scalable software and produce technical design documentation with scope and risk assessments.
  • Build deterministic “safety rails” around LLMs to manage, validate, and wrap stochastic AI model behavior for healthcare data workflows.
  • Apply and enforce software development best practices, design patterns, testing, automation, and modern AI development tools and technologies.
  • Leverage AWS services such as Lambda, Managed Kafka, and EKS to support jobs and batch processing.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform triage, assess impact, and execute short- and long-term mitigation plans.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to prevent future production issues and improve system reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers in backend best practices and AI-native development patterns through code reviews and technical guidance.
  • Work with senior leadership to turn technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.

Requirements

  • BS or advanced degree in computer science or equivalent applicable experience.
  • 8+ years of software development experience on server-side applications, including API servers, third-party integrations, and data processing.
  • Expertise in a compiled language such as Go or Java is required.
  • Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, SQL tuning, and database monitoring, is required.
  • Working knowledge of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, the AWS platform, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Experience with agentic frameworks, MCP, LLM APIs such as Anthropic or OpenAI, and prompt engineering/evals.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to stakeholders and mentor a distributed team.
  • An architectural mindset with the ability to design for scale, performance, and maintainability in a high-growth startup environment.
  • A positive, non-dogmatic, team-first attitude.
  • Flexibility and comfort working in ambiguity.
  • Experience at a high-growth startup is a plus.
