Description

  • Lead Sierra Club’s social media identity, including voice, visual style, creative content, and platform strategy.
  • Develop real-time, story-driven content strategies across social platforms and organizational campaigns.
  • Manage and develop a team of up to six strategists, creatives, and content developers.
  • Integrate fundraising, storytelling, list growth, crisis response, influencer engagement, and organizing tactics into social programming.
  • Use audience, content, and platform data to guide strategy and produce monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Establish governance, content intake, scheduling, review, and collaboration processes.
  • Train staff, chapters, and volunteers on social media best practices and brand standards.
  • Manage external vendors, contracts, and social media projects.
  • Coach organizational leaders and stakeholders on social strategy and content development.
  • Support social media responses to the 24-hour news cycle, including occasional weeknight and weekend work.

Requirements

  • Significant experience managing a social media program from strategy through execution.
  • Demonstrated success directing teams while also contributing hands-on work when needed.
  • Experience developing organizational voice, identity, innovative campaigns, and story-based content.
  • Experience building social media processes, infrastructure, governance, and data-informed strategies.
  • Significant people-management experience, including coaching, communication, collaboration, and team development.
  • Deep expertise with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, and Substack.
  • Knowledge of social media scheduling, monitoring, analytics, and reporting tools.
  • Experience navigating complex stakeholder environments and competing priorities.
  • Ability to apply equity analysis and inclusive leadership to teams, partnerships, campaigns, and organizational culture.
  • Experience in environmental movement or social justice advocacy, influencer partnerships, volunteer training, or policy campaigning preferred.
