Description

  • Proactively contact eligible patients by outbound phone calls to grow the specialty pharmacy patient population and enroll them in the Shields Partner Pharmacy program.
  • Educate patients about the services offered through the Shields Specialty Pharmacy Program.
  • Communicate the value of the Shields Partner Pharmacy program to patients over the phone.
  • Review patient EMRs and chart notes before outbound calls to understand each patient’s condition and situation.
  • Identify medications that require special storage or handling, including hazardous and refrigerated medications.
  • Identify and coordinate needed supplies for selected medications, such as sharps containers, needles/syringes, alcohol swabs, and band-aids.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect Shields values when handling patient information.
  • Work flexible shifts, including standard weekday hours and occasional Saturday coverage.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Indiana pharmacy technician licensure is required.
  • 0-1 years of experience as a pharmacy technician or in a related role.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • National certification through PTCB or ExCPT is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Commitment to obtain required licensure within a mutually agreed-upon timeframe if needed.
  • Strong verbal communication and phone skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Prior customer service experience or outbound call experience.
  • Ability to become nationally certified through PTCB or ExCPT within 6 months of hire via Shields classes is available as part of training.
