Description

  • Own the architecture and evolution of Sezzle’s core infrastructure.
  • Design and optimize AWS accounts, IAM, networking, Kubernetes, and Aurora RDS environments.
  • Build capacity models, run load tests, diagnose bottlenecks, and improve throughput, latency, resilience, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code, deployment automation, observability, disaster recovery, and safe migration processes.
  • Operate and improve Kubernetes clusters, including scaling, workload isolation, upgrades, and deployment reliability.
  • Tune Aurora MySQL and Postgres databases, including queries, indexes, replication, failover, backups, and migrations.
  • Define service-level objectives and implement failure isolation, backpressure, load shedding, and safe retries.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident recovery, and implement postmortem corrective actions.
  • Build AI-assisted tools for incident investigation, capacity analysis, runbook automation, and toil reduction.
  • Write architecture proposals, evaluate technologies through prototypes and benchmarks, and collaborate across engineering, Security, and Compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
  • 12+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, SRE, software development, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Deep production expertise with AWS, including compute, IAM, multi-account architectures, VPCs, and private connectivity.
  • Deep production expertise with Kubernetes; EKS experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience scaling RDS/Aurora MySQL and/or Postgres, including performance tuning, replication, high availability, failover, and recovery.
  • Demonstrated delivery of infrastructure improvements measured by capacity, latency, reliability, or cost outcomes.
  • Strong coding and automation skills in Golang, Python, or similar languages, plus Terraform or equivalent infrastructure-as-code experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, DNS, TLS, storage, concurrency, and distributed-system failure modes.
  • Experience operating 24/7 high-availability platforms, including incident response, disaster recovery, observability, load testing, capacity planning, and CI/CD.
  • Active use of AI tooling with practical judgment regarding validation, security, limitations, and human review; fintech, multi-region, chaos engineering, and Prometheus/Grafana experience are preferred.
