Description

  • Own the architecture and evolution of Sezzle’s core infrastructure.
  • Identify system constraints and deliver improvements across applications, databases, and infrastructure.
  • Build capacity models, run load tests, diagnose bottlenecks, and optimize throughput, latency, reliability, and cost.
  • Design resilient AWS account, IAM, networking, multi-AZ, and multi-region architectures.
  • Operate and improve Kubernetes clusters, including lifecycle automation, resource management, autoscaling, isolation, and upgrades.
  • Scale and optimize Aurora RDS for MySQL and Postgres, including queries, indexes, replication, failover, migrations, and recovery.
  • Define service-level objectives and implement reliability patterns such as failure isolation, backpressure, and load shedding.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, lead major incident recovery, and implement postmortem corrective actions.
  • Build infrastructure-as-code, observability, disaster recovery, safe migrations, and operational automation.
  • Develop and evaluate AI-assisted tooling for incident investigation, runbooks, capacity analysis, and toil reduction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 12+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, SRE, software development, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Deep production expertise with AWS, including compute, IAM, multi-account architecture, VPCs, and private connectivity.
  • Deep production expertise with Kubernetes; EKS experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience scaling relational databases, specifically Aurora/RDS with MySQL and/or Postgres.
  • Demonstrated delivery of infrastructure improvements with measurable gains in capacity, latency, reliability, or cost.
  • Strong coding and automation skills in Go, Python, or similar languages, plus Terraform or equivalent infrastructure-as-code experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in Linux, networking, DNS, TLS, storage, concurrency, and distributed systems.
  • Experience operating 24/7 high-availability platforms, responding to incidents, and testing disaster recovery.
  • Experience with observability, load testing, capacity planning, safe CI/CD, and practical AI tooling; fintech, multi-region, chaos engineering, and Prometheus/Grafana/Loki/Tempo experience preferred.
