Description

  • Design complex, domain-specific problems and datasets to rigorously evaluate AI models.
  • Provide expert insights to improve AI systems’ accuracy, reasoning, and overall performance.
  • Collaborate with partnered AI labs and platforms on high-impact projects.
  • Work with Scale’s research team to co-author technical reports and research papers.
  • Participate in an interdisciplinary network of researchers and domain experts.
  • Contribute to applied AI research and human-centered AI initiatives.
  • Engage in review projects and advisory work as part of the fellowship.
  • Complete a brief challenge and interview process as part of candidate evaluation.

Requirements

  • PhD, postdoctoral, or professor-level experience in a STEM or related discipline such as Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Humanities.
  • Domain expertise in an academic or professional field relevant to applied AI research.
  • Detail-oriented and innovative mindset with a commitment to collaboration.
  • Interest in applied AI research and advancing human-centered AI.
  • Authorized to work in the country of residence.
  • Availability for a fully remote 1099 independent contractor role lasting approximately six months, with potential for extension.
  • Willingness to complete a brief work sample/challenge during the application process.
  • Experience in research publication or technical writing is preferred.
