Description

  • Design and build scalable mobile platform infrastructure supporting high-availability applications.
  • Create and maintain foundational frameworks used by 20–25 engineering teams to accelerate mobile development.
  • Architect solutions for large-scale mobile applications across diverse industries.
  • Optimize mobile performance and scalability for a wide range of device types, including low-end Android devices.
  • Lead technical initiatives to reduce complexity and improve developer productivity across the mobile organization.
  • Support and enable multiple engineering teams through platform solutions and best practices.
  • Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (customer focus, long-term thinking, growth mindset, inclusion, and teamwork) as the mobile platform scales globally.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of mobile development–related experience.
  • Extensive experience with large-scale consumer mobile applications serving millions of users daily.
  • Proven track record building platform-level mobile infrastructure and frameworks.
  • Strong expertise in mobile performance optimization and scalability.
  • Experience supporting multiple engineering teams through platform solutions.
  • Deep understanding of mobile architecture patterns and best practices.
  • React Native experience (our apps are primarily React Native-based) and experience with cross-platform mobile development (preferred).
  • Blend of experience from startup/entrepreneurial environments and large-scale big tech companies (preferred).
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in fast-growing companies (preferred); position is remote and open to candidates residing in the US and Canada and offers are contingent on legal right to work.

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation (base + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs)).
  • Base salary range listed: $154,800 — $212,850 CAD (actual base pay may vary by location, skills, and experience).
