Description

  • Operate and improve multi-region GKE clusters running hundreds of microservices across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Manage Kubernetes platform services including Istio, cert-manager, external-dns, RBAC, autoscaling, Vault injection, and Helm-based deployments.
  • Develop and maintain Terraform modules for GKE, networking, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, Vault, and web hosting.
  • Maintain and extend Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines with shared Terraform templates and multi-environment deployment workflows.
  • Support Confluent Kafka infrastructure, including Connect workers, consumer health monitoring, and KEDA-based lag scaling.
  • Manage Redis Enterprise clusters on Kubernetes with operator-driven lifecycle and replication.
  • Operate observability tooling such as Grafana Cloud, kube-prometheus-stack, Google Managed Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Beyla, and Kubecost.
  • Harden cluster security using NetworkPolicies, Pod Security Standards, admission controls, CrowdStrike Falcon, Lacework, and certificate management.
  • Support data infrastructure and related services including Cloud SQL, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, Matillion, Snowflake, and BigQuery.
  • Partner with application teams to troubleshoot deployment failures, resource tuning issues, Kafka lag, and connectivity problems.
  • Contribute to the Internal Developer Portal and internal CLI tools that enable self-service for product engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of cloud or infrastructure engineering experience, including 3+ years of hands-on GCP experience.
  • Strong production experience with GKE, VPC networking, IAM, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, and Artifact Registry.
  • Advanced Terraform experience, including reusable module design, state management, and multi-environment patterns.
  • Production Kubernetes expertise, including Helm chart development, RBAC, resource tuning, and troubleshooting workloads at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with Istio service mesh, including sidecar injection, mTLS, VirtualServices, AuthorizationPolicies, and traffic management.
  • Understanding of CNI fundamentals such as Cilium or Dataplane V2, east-west traffic flows, and network segmentation.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline development in Azure DevOps YAML or similar tools, plus trunk-based development workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with secrets management, including HashiCorp Vault and GCP Secret Manager.
  • Proficiency in scripting with Bash, Python, or Go to build production-quality automation and tooling.
  • Strong security mindset with experience implementing least-privilege IAM, certificate management, and policy-driven controls.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work across infrastructure and application development teams.
  • Preferred: experience with event-driven architectures and Apache Kafka, including Confluent Platform, Connect, consumer group management, and KEDA-based scaling.
  • Preferred: experience with Redis Enterprise on Kubernetes, including operator-managed clusters and Active-Active replication.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Grafana Cloud, OpenTelemetry, and related observability tooling.
  • Preferred: experience with GCP data services such as Dataproc, Cloud Composer, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub.
  • Preferred: familiarity with OPA/Rego or Kyverno for policy enforcement.
  • Preferred: experience with Azure APIM, Cloudflare, or multi-cloud DNS management.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Matillion, Snowflake, or similar ETL/CDC and data warehouse tooling.
  • Preferred: exposure to financial services or mortgage/loan servicing domains and compliance requirements.
  • Preferred: experience with Kubecost or similar FinOps tooling.
  • Preferred: experience building or contributing to an Internal Developer Portal such as Backstage.
  • Preferred: GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification.
