Description

  • Build the application-layer foundations for AI integration, including shared architecture, integration patterns, and agent scaffolding used by product teams.
  • Design and implement reliable, scalable integrations with third-party services and APIs.
  • Build data pipelines that support Roofr’s AI systems, including structured data feeds, embeddings, and retrieval infrastructure.
  • Design and maintain evaluation frameworks for AI systems, including benchmarks, regression suites, and automated quality checks.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to identify needs, establish shared patterns, and ensure the platform supports real-world use cases.
  • Own the reliability, performance, and developer experience of the systems and tools you build.
  • Contribute to company standards and best practices for building with AI.
  • Stay current on the evolving AI landscape and bring pragmatic ideas to the team.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of backend software development experience.
  • Production experience building AI-powered systems, including agents, integrations, or LLM-powered features at scale.
  • Hands-on familiarity with LLM APIs and agent frameworks such as Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, LangChain, or similar.
  • Experience building evaluation pipelines for LLM-powered systems.
  • Strong integration engineering experience designing reliable connectors to external services.
  • Experience building data pipelines for AI use cases, including RAG, embeddings, and vector search.
  • A track record of building backend systems that scale.
  • PHP/Laravel experience is an asset; strong backend engineering fundamentals are most important.
  • Strong ownership and initiative in identifying and fixing issues without waiting to be told.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Experience at an early-stage or high-growth company, with comfort in a fast-moving environment.
  • Curiosity about AI and the discipline to build it well.
