Description

  • Shape data-platform strategy, architecture, and delivery from initial concept through implementation.
  • Make architectural decisions for scalable Databricks platforms, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, governance, and data flows.
  • Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines and cloud-based data solutions.
  • Structure code, deployments, and orchestration using Databricks Workflows.
  • Translate ambiguous client data ambitions into clear approaches, architectures, and actionable first steps.
  • Guide technical and business stakeholders through trade-offs and platform decisions.
  • Raise team capability through reviews, discussions, and knowledge sharing.
  • Help clients realize business value from their data platforms.

Requirements

  • Experience leading or playing a key role in delivering data platforms from concept to production.
  • Strong Databricks platform knowledge, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, governance, Workflows, and platform architecture; experienced data-platform engineers new to Databricks may apply.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience writing maintainable code, data modelling, and data pipelines.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP and building cloud-based ETL/ELT solutions.
  • Ability to define structure, approach, and architecture in ambiguous or complex client environments.
  • Ability to balance pragmatic delivery with sound technical design.
  • Experience mentoring or elevating colleagues through technical reviews and collaboration.
  • Ability to communicate technical trade-offs and influence engineers, product owners, and CTOs.
  • Databricks certifications, such as Data Engineer Professional or Machine Learning Engineer Professional (preferred).
  • Databricks Champion status (preferred).
