Description

  • Lead data-platform initiatives from initial concept through delivery, owning architectural decisions and outcomes.
  • Design scalable Databricks platform foundations, including Delta Lake architecture, Unity Catalog, and governance.
  • Build and oversee data pipelines from ingestion through consumption using PySpark and SQL.
  • Structure code, deployments, and orchestration with Databricks Workflows.
  • Define platform approaches, architectures, and initial delivery plans in ambiguous client environments.
  • Develop cloud-based ETL/ELT solutions on Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Guide technical and business stakeholders through trade-offs and platform decisions.
  • Raise team capability through code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Experience leading or playing a key ownership role in delivering data platforms from concept to production.
  • Strong Databricks expertise or a strong data-platform background with the motivation to specialize in Databricks.
  • Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, platform governance, Databricks Workflows, and end-to-end data flows.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, including maintainable code, data modeling, and pipeline development.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and cloud-based data solutions on Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous data-platform goals into clear architecture and practical delivery plans.
  • Ability to balance pragmatic delivery with long-term platform quality.
  • Experience influencing technical and business stakeholders and explaining architectural trade-offs.
  • Ability to mentor and elevate colleagues through reviews and technical collaboration.
  • Databricks certifications or Databricks Champion status (preferred).
