Description

  • Own and build the double-entry ledger, ensuring balances are derived from postings and every mutation is idempotent.
  • Own determinism and recoverability through a single sequencer, append-only event logging, and snapshot-plus-replay recovery.
  • Enforce fail-safe runtime behavior for pricing, risk, and no-arbitrage invariants, including paging and market halt conditions.
  • Own the settlement service, including event-time resolution, sequencing of dependent outcomes, reconciliation, and override/void paths.
  • Own infrastructure as code and production scaling across AWS EKS, RDS multi-AZ, Terraform, and burst-driven workloads.
  • Set the overall platform architecture and maintain integration checkpoints so parallel workstreams stay aligned.
  • Manage a descope ladder that protects the ledger, determinism, and fail-safe guarantees under pressure.
  • Lead a small senior team across engines, platform, and core infrastructure.
  • Own stakeholder communication and participate in scope and go/no-go decisions.

Requirements

  • Senior, hands-on experience building financial, exchange, trading, or ledgered systems where correctness and auditability are critical.
  • Deep understanding of double-entry accounting systems and deriving balances from an immutable record.
  • Practical experience with event sourcing / CQRS, including sequencers, append-only logs, snapshot-and-replay recovery, and determinism.
  • Strong PostgreSQL expertise, including serializable isolation, replication, and recovery objectives.
  • Production ownership of AWS infrastructure, including EKS/Kubernetes, RDS, Terraform, and multi-AZ failover.
  • Fluency in TypeScript / Node.js for an end-to-end platform with shared types across engine, API, and frontend.
  • Track record of leading small senior teams and making scope trade-offs that protect core system guarantees.
  • Calm, direct stakeholder communication skills.
  • Real-time matching engine or order-book experience, ideally with a maker / inventory-risk model.
  • Experience integrating authoritative, low-latency real-time data feeds.
  • Observability ownership at the SLO level, using tools such as Datadog, PagerDuty, or Sentry.
  • Familiarity with regulated or licensing-gated product paths, including KYC/AML, responsible-use controls, and SOC 2.
