Description

  • Lead AI and HRIS product compliance in partnership with Product, Engineering, Security, and Privacy teams.
  • Embed risk-based legal review into product development workflows.
  • Own product terms and conditions for HRIS and AI features, including training use, output ownership, acceptable use, and transparency disclosures.
  • Stand up core product AI governance, including model inventory, risk classification, human oversight, bias testing, and incident response alignment.
  • Own HRIS and AI product counseling end to end, including AI impact assessments, model cards, and risk controls.
  • Draft and negotiate product terms and AI-specific clauses with the Commercial Legal team.
  • Monitor emerging AI and technology regulations and translate them into actionable requirements for product, design, and engineering teams.
  • Partner with Privacy and Security on DPIAs, TIAs, incident response, and vendor or LLM diligence.
  • Manage external counsel on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters and drive practical outcomes.
  • Deliver enablement through trainings or office hours for internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with extensive product counseling experience; multiple bar admissions are a plus.
  • Experience advising on technology product counsel, preferably with HR-tech exposure such as EOR, PEO, HRIS, or payroll.
  • Experience advising at scale across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong command of emerging AI frameworks, including the EU AI Act, UK approach, U.S. state and federal developments, and Canada AIDA.
  • Understanding of how AI frameworks interact with data protection laws such as GDPR and CCPA, and employment transparency rules.
  • In-house legal experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup is preferred.
  • Passion for tech and HR-tech products.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Tech-savvy with Slack, Juro, Notion, Google Drive, or equivalent tools.
  • Remote work experience is a plus.
