Description

  • Lead AI and HRIS product compliance in partnership with Product, Engineering, Security, and Privacy teams.
  • Embed risk-based legal review into product development workflows.
  • Own product terms and conditions for HRIS and AI features, including training use, output ownership, acceptable use, and transparency disclosures.
  • Stand up core product AI governance, including model inventory, risk classification, human oversight, bias testing, and incident response alignment.
  • Own HRIS and AI product counseling end to end, including AI impact assessments, model cards, and risk controls.
  • Draft and negotiate product terms and AI-specific clauses in collaboration with Commercial Legal.
  • Monitor new AI and technology regulations and translate them into actionable guidance for product, design, and engineering teams.
  • Manage external counsel on complex multi-jurisdictional matters and drive practical outcomes.
  • Deliver targeted legal enablement through trainings or office hours.
  • Partner with Privacy and Security on DPIAs, TIAs, incident response, and vendor or LLM diligence.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with extensive product counseling experience; multiple bar admissions are a plus.
  • Experience as product counsel in technology, with prior HR-tech exposure such as EOR, PEO, HRIS, or payroll.
  • Experience advising at scale across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong command of emerging AI frameworks such as the EU AI Act, UK approach, U.S. state and federal developments, and Canada AIDA.
  • Understanding of how AI regulations interact with data protection rules such as GDPR and CCPA and employment transparency requirements.
  • In-house legal experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment is preferred.
  • Fluent English writing and speaking skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Tech-savvy with tools such as Slack, Juro, Notion, and Google Drive, or equivalent.
  • Experience working remotely is a plus.
  • Experience working with AI/ML legal and compliance issues is a plus.
  • Experience shipping at least one AI feature in production and building the accompanying legal or governance framework is a plus.
