Description

  • Own the design of engines and turbomachinery from concept through launch and reuse.
  • Advance the state of the art in turbine design for space applications.
  • Collaborate with propulsion development and manufacturing teams to incorporate improvements into future designs.
  • Drive independent projects to completion in a highly ambiguous environment.
  • Work across design, development, and analysis of turbomachinery and rocket turbopumps.
  • Support the build, test, and iteration of Aeon-R engine systems across the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with manufacturing, test, launch, and integration teams to support rapid development and first launch goals.
  • Apply engineering analysis to resolve challenging issues unique to rocket turbopumps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with turbine design and performing aerodynamic and structural analysis.
  • Experience with LCF and HCF methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard turbomachinery design and analysis.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks.
  • Experience with transient thermal/aerodynamic analysis (preferred).
  • Experience with forced response analysis (preferred).
  • Experience with in-situ mode shape or blade deformation measurement (preferred).
  • Experience overseeing turbomachinery development and/or test campaigns (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter (preferred).
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment (preferred).
  • Experience working in a flight development program (preferred).
