Description

  • Coordinate with process stakeholders and external resources to build a central, searchable database for manufacturing, quality, and NDE data.
  • Reduce human factors in inspection and decision-making through automation in data collection, routing, and analysis.
  • Demonstrate correlation and automated prediction between manufacturing defects and process inputs, including proof-of-concept validation with customers.
  • Work with NDE Level 3s and NDE Engineers to develop and execute feasibility studies, PODs, and qualification plans.
  • Ensure qualification data and documentation comply with customer specifications or establish and document acceptable alternative methodologies.
  • Provide proactive mentorship, training, and oversight for less experienced engineers.
  • Develop in-house inspection systems and processes that adhere to industry standards.
  • Support challenging technical inspection operations across a wide variety of materials and components.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in an engineering-related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience involving NDE methods and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience delivering technically concise reports to internal or external engineering stakeholders using multiple data sources.
  • Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to achieve practical manufacturing or production outcomes.
  • Technical knowledge of at least one NDE method: Digital RT, CR, ECA, or PAUT.
  • Understanding of welding flaw acceptance criteria.
  • MS and/or PhD in Engineering with a focus on one or more NDE methods, preferred.
  • Experience with statistical analyses such as linear and multi-linear regression, Gaussian and Bayesian probabilities using R or Python, preferred.
  • Experience contributing to the design and/or qualification of automated NDE systems, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and familiarity with MES systems, preferred.
  • Exposure to aerospace industry codes and standards, preferred.
  • Experience with CAD modeling software platforms, preferred.
  • Previous or current Level 2 or 3 certification in Digital RT, CR, ECA, or PAUT, preferred.
  • Current ASNT Level 3 in one or more methods, preferred.
  • Experience inspecting additively manufactured materials, FSWs, and OTWs, preferred.
  • Experience auditing third-party NDE service providers and equipment vendors, preferred.
  • Competency in advanced NDE data analysis in methods such as PAUT, ECA, CT, DR, or FMC/TFM, preferred.
