Description

  • Manage a team of software engineers through 1:1s, performance reviews, career development, and hiring.
  • Set and uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing, deployment, incident response, and on-call practices.
  • Lead architectural design and trade studies for new features and systems across planning, scheduling, purchasing, manufacturing operations, and test data tooling.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle from concept and trade study through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders in manufacturing, operations, propulsion, and test and launch to translate requirements into software.
  • Contribute individually by writing and shipping code while staying technically engaged.
  • Mentor engineers at all levels and address team gaps through coaching or hiring.
  • Help build enterprise applications, industrial automation, data analytics infrastructure, and AI-enabled tooling for factory operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience across multiple production systems.
  • Proven track record of hiring, retaining, and developing engineers.
  • Expertise in React and modern frontend tooling.
  • Fluency in at least one backend language such as Go or Python, with willingness to work across the stack.
  • Experience driving architectural decisions and building alignment across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear design docs and give actionable feedback.
  • 2+ years in an engineering management or tech lead-manager role with direct reports (preferred).
  • Experience designing and scaling service architectures for high-performance frontend operations (preferred).
  • Background in systems-level programming, including synchronization and memory management (preferred).
  • Experience with low-latency or safety-critical software (preferred).
  • History of shipping software across large, multi-platform codebases (preferred).
  • Experience with Python, React, TypeScript, Go, Iceberg, BigQuery, DuckDB, DBT, Postgres, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm (tools used by the team).
