Description

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of a high-volume, high-power energy conversion product from concept to deployment.
  • Define requirements and design critical mechanical systems, including thermal management, structural elements, packaging, and integration of power electronics.
  • Serve as the primary mechanical engineering expert, driving innovation and resolving technical challenges at scale.
  • Perform mechanical analyses such as CFD, FEA, and thermal modeling to validate designs and performance.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems engineers to integrate mechanical systems into the overall architecture.
  • Select materials and components and work with suppliers and vendors to deliver cost-effective, high-quality solutions.
  • Act as a hands-on engineering manager accountable for project goals and timelines.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performance mechanical engineering team.
  • Contribute to building the mechanical engineering function, including tools, infrastructure, and design practices, for a growing team.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience focused on power conversion or energy storage products, ideally for mass production.
  • Hands-on design, prototyping, and launch experience in medium-to-high volume production (10,000 units/year or higher).
  • Strong understanding of how high-voltage electronics interact with surrounding mechanical systems, including insulation and thermal systems.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and analysis tools such as CFD and FEA.
  • Experience developing tools, infrastructure, and design practices for a growing team.
  • Ability to self-manage in a startup environment while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships across the organization and present to internal and external executives.
  • Experience in a leadership role mentoring or managing engineers is preferred.
  • Passion for sustainability is preferred.

Benefits

  • California pay range of $125,000 to $235,000 USD.
  • Full-time position.
  • Compensation commensurate with experience.
