Description

  • Own the architecture of the systems behind the ad stack and make difficult, long-term technical decisions.
  • Design, build, and evolve high-throughput, low-latency services that prioritize performance and reliability.
  • Set technical direction for how ad systems are built, scaled, and maintained.
  • Lead the resolution of complex issues such as real-time bidding bottlenecks, data synchronization drops, and broken platform integrations.
  • Partner with advertising product owners to shape solutions, explain tradeoffs, and propose alternatives.
  • Mentor developers and set expectations for code review and documentation quality.
  • Advise leadership on long-term technical strategy, privacy, and data-handling frameworks.
  • Step into unfamiliar architectures, identify systemic weaknesses, and simplify complex implementations.
  • Contribute technical work that strengthens client relationships and supports business value.
  • Balance programmatic monetization goals with engineering constraints to support commercial outcomes.

Requirements

  • Deep hands-on experience across the advertising domain, including OpenRTB, pre-bid, server-side and header bidding, bidstream enrichment, ad decisioning, SSP/DSP partners, and video/CTV delivery.
  • Enough breadth across the ad tech domain to architect solutions across it, even if not every area has been directly worked on.
  • Strong programming and architecture fundamentals that apply across multiple stacks, languages, and platforms.
  • Experience building data pipelines and real-time systems at scale.
  • Fluency in latency and throughput tradeoffs in systems handling billions of requests per day.
  • Ability to keep enrichment and capture off the critical bid path.
  • Ability to step into unfamiliar architecture, diagnose systemic issues, and simplify them.
  • Awareness of major technical and regulatory shifts and the ability to factor them into architectural decisions.
  • Experience with server-side ad insertion is preferred.
  • A background in advertising mechanics and programmatic monetization is strongly valued.
