  • Monitor customs clearance activity to ensure brokers meet service levels for entry preparation, customs submission, clearance, issue resolution, and post-clearance follow-up.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for shipment delays, customs holds, missing documents, entry rejections, product data gaps, and other clearance issues.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather the documentation and product data needed for customs clearance.
  • Track and analyze broker performance metrics, exception trends, rejection rates, documentation defects, and aged holds.
  • Lead regular broker performance reviews, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Drive corrective action plans with external providers to address performance gaps and recurring clearance issues.
  • Partner with Logistics and Global Trade Compliance to resolve customs milestones, compliance-sensitive issues, and regulatory questions.
  • Support development of SOPs, escalation playbooks, broker procedures, reporting templates, and issue-resolution workflows.
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve upstream data and documentation issues affecting customs clearance and improve UK/EU operations as volume grows.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience supporting customs clearance activity in the UK and/or EU.
  • Experience managing or working closely with third-party customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, or clearance providers.
  • Strong understanding of import documentation, customs entry processes, HS classification, country of origin, customs valuation, duty/tax assessment, and broker clearance workflows.
  • Experience tracking operational KPIs, SLA performance, exception trends, and provider scorecards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and resolve unusual clearance issues.
  • Ability to work independently and use judgment to determine the right course of action based on available information, precedent, and business impact.
  • Strong communication and influence skills for working with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with shipment data, product data, customs documents, and operational reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent practical experience in customs operations, logistics, trade compliance, or a related field.
  • Preferred experience with ecommerce, parcel, direct-to-consumer, or high-volume B2C customs clearance models.
  • Preferred experience with UK customs processes, EU import processes, import VAT, IOSS/OSS concepts, or low-value parcel clearance programs.
  • Preferred experience supporting imports into the Netherlands, France, Germany, or other key EU markets.
  • Preferred experience developing SOPs, broker playbooks, escalation matrices, or operational dashboards.
  • Familiarity with customs systems, logistics platforms, broker portals, product master data, or trade compliance tools is preferred.
  • Prior experience in apparel, home goods, consumer products, or other retail product categories is advantageous.

Benefits

  • Equal employment opportunity and a commitment to non-discrimination and harassment-free hiring.
  • Reasonable accommodations provided to qualified individuals with disabilities on a case-by-case basis.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful challenges in a mission-driven, high-growth company.
  • Work alongside talented colleagues building a more sustainable and accessible retail model.
