Description

  • Develop kits, protocols, and applications to support adoption and use of next-generation protein sequencing.
  • Create and implement sample-preparation methods for peptide libraries from digested proteins across mammalian tissues, cells, and body fluids.
  • Establish workflows for analyzing post-translational modifications to study signaling pathways in disease contexts.
  • Use quantitative luminescence-based assays, chemical synthesis, spectroscopy, and molecular biology to prepare proteins and peptides for sequencing.
  • Improve existing protein library preparation procedures and develop new ones to increase reproducibility, reliability, and scalability.
  • Analyze scientific data using statistical approaches and software tools to improve protocols and system performance.
  • Maintain detailed experimental records, methods, and results in accordance with company standards.
  • Collaborate on application development efforts that expand the capabilities and adoption of the sequencing platform.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Proteomics, or a related discipline.
  • Postdoctoral experience in proteomics research is preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in sample preparation, protein extraction, purification, and sample preparation for bottom-up proteomics applications.
  • Experience with protein purification, immunoprecipitation (IP), and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network exploration.
  • Experience analyzing biological samples from cancer cell lines, human or mouse tissues, and body fluids such as plasma, saliva, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
  • Experience maintaining different cell lines, tissues, and biofluids, including protein extraction from cell lysates, tissue, and biofluids.
  • Expertise in executing quantitative luciferase reporter assays.
  • Solid understanding of standard protein quantification methods such as BCA and Bradford.
  • Familiarity with standard lab equipment such as luminometers, plate readers, and homogenizers.
  • Experience with cell culture techniques, including transfection and maintenance of cancer cell lines.
  • Experience designing experimental strategies to enrich and biochemically characterize proteins, with focus on PTMs such as phosphorylation and glycosylation, and protein-protein interactions.
  • Proven expertise in chemical synthesis, molecular biology, and bioanalytical techniques.
  • Strong analytical aptitude with expertise in data interpretation and statistical analysis.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and move flexibly between projects.
  • Preferred experience with mass spectrometry instrumentation and bottom-up proteomics techniques.
  • Preferred experience developing protocols and assays for single-molecule detection.
  • Preferred experience using statistical analysis software.

  • Estimated base salary range of $150,000 to $180,000 in the United States.
