Description

  • Read and interpret network diagrams, cut sheets, patching schedules, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
  • Identify, handle, and work with copper and fiber cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, multimode fiber, and single-mode fiber.
  • Perform terminations on jacks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures to specification.
  • Apply accurate labeling and documentation that aligns with design and as-built standards.
  • Use test and validation tools such as certifiers, OTDRs, light meters, and toners to verify connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1 issues including opens, shorts, reversals, crosstalk, and fiber contamination.
  • Execute cutover and migration activities by strictly following approved MOPs during maintenance windows.
  • Perform patching and de-patching in the correct sequence and verify end-to-end paths before changes.
  • Support rollback procedures and live testing with network engineers when validation fails or connectivity needs to be confirmed.
  • Maintain redlines, as-built documentation, rack dressing, cable management, and site compliance standards during and after cutovers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Layer 1 structured cabling within data center or enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience supporting network cutovers or migrations.
  • Strong understanding of cabling standards and documentation practices.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and extended maintenance windows as required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to pass background checks for carrier and data center access.
  • Willingness to obtain NERC compliance upon onboarding.
  • Experience with data center cutovers or large-scale migrations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with multi-vendor environments is preferred.
  • Comfort working in high-pressure, live-network environments is preferred.

Benefits

  • Contract length of 3–6 months.
  • Pay rate of $30–$35 per hour.
  • Travel is required, with regional and national assignments.
  • Primarily Sunday–Thursday maintenance windows, supporting a structured work schedule.
  • Opportunity to work in nationwide data centers on critical cutover and migration projects.
