Description

  • Lead the people, process, operating model, and governance workstreams for client cloud data transformation engagements.
  • Design and stand up modern cloud data governance programs from the ground up.
  • Define data ownership, stewardship structures, and accountability frameworks across client organizations.
  • Lead stakeholder alignment across clinical, operational, IT, legal, and executive groups.
  • Develop policies, standards, and operating procedures for data access, quality, classification, lineage, and lifecycle management.
  • Establish a data governance council or equivalent governing body with clear charter, cadence, roles, and escalation paths.
  • Partner with cloud platform leaders to align technical design decisions with governance and accountability structures.
  • Lead change management efforts, including readiness assessment, adoption planning, and capability-building for long-term sustainability.
  • Advise on data literacy initiatives to improve real-world adoption and use of cloud data platforms.
  • Define governance maturity metrics and track progress over time.
  • Contribute learnings from client engagements to Prominence’s internal methodology and repeatable frameworks.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in data strategy, data governance, or enterprise information management.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership or principal consultant role.
  • Proven experience establishing a data governance program where no formal program previously existed.
  • Deep experience in healthcare IT, including clinical and operational data domains and regulatory considerations such as HIPAA and HITRUST.
  • Ability to operate without a defined playbook and structure work from first principles in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience working alongside technical cloud platform teams with enough credibility to engage on architecture decisions.
  • Strong executive presence and stakeholder influence skills for C-suite communication and decision-making.
  • Experience leading or embedding within consulting engagements, not just internal programs.
  • Familiarity with governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or equivalent (preferred).
  • Exposure to cloud-native platforms and governance tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS, or GCP at a conceptual and process level (preferred).
  • Experience with Epic’s analytics ecosystem and self-service reporting governance implications (preferred).
  • Familiarity with data mesh, data product, or federated governance models in large enterprises (preferred).
  • Prior CDAIO, CDO, or VP of Data experience at a health system or health-adjacent organization (preferred).
  • Ability to sit or stand at a computer and work independently.
  • Willingness to work flexibly across time zones and travel to customer sites quarterly, plus biannual company meetings.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
