Description

  • Ensure consistent accuracy in processing tissue sections while maintaining efficient work habits and flexibility.
  • Monitor quality control, including slide printing and cassette printing.
  • Perform grossing tasks as needed.
  • Load, change, clean, and troubleshoot tissue processors.
  • Spawn, trim, and embed tissue specimens.
  • Perform routine H&E staining and glass or film coverslipping.
  • Create TMAs manually and using automated methods.
  • Perform microtomy at varying thicknesses, including TMA sectioning and curling at required thicknesses.
  • Conduct IHC work across multiple platforms, including validations, assay transfer, assay development, and concentration/dilution preparation.
  • Perform pipetting, digital slide scanning, and image quality control.
  • Verify control slides by identifying tissue structures and staining characteristics.
  • Monitor quality control within predetermined limits and maintain routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Organize work to maximize productivity and respond appropriately to workplace changes while following safety and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree and 0-2+ years of related experience.
  • Histologist (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification by ASCP, or certification eligibility with certification obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Associate degree or graduation from a certified Histology program or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong visual acuity, above-average dexterity, and good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.; ability to push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read, write, speak fluently, and comprehend the English language.
  • Willingness to work around viral and bacterial infections, bloodborne pathogens, and occasional toxic substances.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA, CLIA, CAP, safety, and HIPAA regulations.
