Description

  • Monitor freezers, refrigerators, and room temperatures and respond to freezer alarms according to standard operating procedures.
  • Receive biological samples, unpack specimens, record shipment information, and file associated paperwork.
  • Store samples at the appropriate temperature and distribute shipment receipt confirmations when required.
  • Verify incoming supply shipments against packing lists and quarantine raw materials until QA release.
  • Inventory frozen biological samples by checking vial information, scanning samples into the BSI data management system, and resolving documentation discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventory of returned specimens and aliquot frozen specimens using aseptic technique.
  • Retrieve frozen samples according to requisitions, SOPs, and project instructions.
  • Perform quality control checks on outgoing samples and update outgoing batch records.
  • Contact receiving labs before shipment to confirm shipping details and availability to receive specimens.
  • Prepare and ship samples via commercial or local courier, including dangerous and non-dangerous goods, and complete all required forms and records.
  • Label vials and shipping boxes, perform dry shipper QC, and carry out other assigned duties or projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of general working experience.
  • Good attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
  • Ability to work well in a group environment and adapt quickly to changing assignments and business needs.
  • Familiarity with Excel and basic program functions.
  • Ability to read, write, speak fluently, and comprehend English.
  • Ability to lift and carry 31-50 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance, and perform prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and repetitive movements in a cold freezer environment (-20ºC to -196ºC).
  • 1 year of relevant lab experience (preferred).
  • Basic laboratory skills (preferred).
  • Training in aseptic technique (preferred).
