Description

  • Monitor freezers, refrigerators, and room temperatures and respond to freezer alarms according to standard operating procedures.
  • Receive biological samples by unpacking specimens, recording shipment details, and organizing associated paperwork.
  • Store incoming samples at the appropriate temperature following established procedures.
  • Receive supplies into inventory by verifying contents against packing lists and quarantining raw materials for QA release.
  • Inventory frozen biological samples by verifying vial information, scanning samples into BSI, and documenting discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventorying returned specimens and aliquot frozen specimens using aseptic technique.
  • Retrieve samples from inventory, perform quality control checks, and update outgoing batch records.
  • Prepare and ship biological samples via commercial or local courier, including dangerous and non-dangerous goods.
  • Contact receiving laboratories before shipment to confirm shipping details and availability.
  • Label vials and shipping boxes, perform dry shipper QC, and complete required shipping and collection paperwork.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of general working experience.
  • Good attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
  • Ability to work well in a group environment and adapt quickly to changing assignments and business needs.
  • Familiarity with Excel and basic Excel functions.
  • Ability to read, write, speak fluently, and comprehend English.
  • Ability to lift and carry 31-50 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance, and perform prolonged standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Ability to work in a cold freezer environment ranging from -20ºC to -196ºC.
  • 1 year of relevant lab experience preferred.
  • Basic laboratory skills preferred.
  • Training in aseptic technique preferred.
  • Current knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and certification standards preferred.
