Description

  • Build and organize the research data infrastructure by cleaning, structuring, and expanding Prerender’s existing datasets.
  • Design new data collection streams to support questions that current data cannot answer.
  • Conduct original research using Prerender data, web-scale datasets, and primary research methods.
  • Own the full research lifecycle from question framing and methodology to analysis and findings.
  • Publish research outputs ranging from quick data snapshots to flagship studies under your name.
  • Develop and maintain a behavioral taxonomy of known and emerging bots and track changes in the crawler ecosystem.
  • Research how AI crawlers, LLM-based search systems, and autonomous agents interact with web content.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesis, and pattern recognition in your research workflow.
  • Bring research findings into conversations that shape product, sales, marketing, and investment decisions.
  • Work directly with the CEO to shape the research agenda and ongoing priorities.

Requirements

  • Published original research experience in academia or industry, from hypothesis through defensible conclusions.
  • Hands-on large-scale data analysis experience, including querying production data independently.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Strong experiment design skills, including hypothesis formulation, variable isolation, statistical validation, and outcome measurement.
  • Experience building data infrastructure, not just analyzing pre-built datasets.
  • Comfort using AI tools in research workflows.
  • Direct experience observing AI crawler behavior in production environments is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with technical SEO, including crawlability, rendering, indexing, and structured data, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) or Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is preferred.
  • Background in information retrieval or NLP is preferred.
