Description

  • Manage, build, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud-based database infrastructure supporting the SaaS application.
  • Improve database operations through automation and coding to reduce toil.
  • Liaise with engineering and SRE teams to support new products that require database services.
  • Monitor database observability metrics and ensure database objectives are met.
  • Work with the DBA team to identify areas of toil and implement scalable processes and automation.
  • Use a data-driven approach to improve database performance and availability for stakeholder systems.
  • Provide database expertise by reviewing migrations, queries, performance optimizations, and deployment standards.
  • Support performance troubleshooting and root cause analysis for database issues.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience working with relational database systems, including 3+ years at a senior, lead, or architect level.
  • 2+ years of experience in a DBRE or SRE role.
  • Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience with coding and automation.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Experience using source control systems such as Git.
  • SQL Server experience preferred; MySQL and PostgreSQL are nice to have.
  • Experience working with very large databases (1+ TB) and managing a large number of databases (100+).
  • Proficiency in languages such as PowerShell, C#, SQL, or Python.
  • Additional experience with tools and systems such as Jira, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Grafana, InfluxDB, and NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Some on-call or after-hours work is required.
